We've reviewed a lot of "healthy" snacks that taste like cardboard apology letters. HighKey cookies are different. After testing six flavors across multiple sitting, here's our complete, honest take on whether these keto-friendly cookies are actually worth buying — and which flavors are best.

What We Tested

We tested the Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodle, Birthday Cake, Lemon, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip varieties. All were purchased fresh from Amazon and tested within two days of arrival to ensure maximum freshness. We tasted them blind against a standard Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookie as a benchmark.

Chocolate Chip — The Flagship

This is the one you've probably heard most about, and it's the best starting point. The cookie has a genuinely pleasant buttery flavor with real vanilla notes. The texture is slightly crunchier and drier than a traditional cookie (a consequence of almond flour), but it's far from unpleasant. The chocolate chips are real chocolate and properly melty when the cookies are slightly warmed. At room temperature, the chocolate firms up to a satisfying snap.

The sweetness level is slightly lower than Chips Ahoy and has a very faint cooling sensation from the erythritol — you'd notice it if you were looking for it, but it doesn't detract meaningfully from the eating experience.

Rating: 8/10

Double Chocolate Chip — Our Favorite

Surprisingly, the Double Chocolate Chip outperforms the original. The chocolate dough is richer and more complex, and the combination of cocoa flavor in the base with actual chocolate chips creates a deeper, more satisfying chocolate experience. The slight dryness of almond flour actually helps here — it echoes the texture of a brownies-gone-crunchy profile that works really well.

Rating: 9/10

Snickerdoodle — Classic Done Right

The cinnamon-sugar coating is present, though less aggressively sweet than a traditional snickerdoodle. The cinnamon flavor is clean and prominent. For snickerdoodle fans, this is a great option — probably the most satisfying variety for anyone who prefers warmly spiced flavors over chocolate.

Rating: 8/10

Birthday Cake — Divisive

The Birthday Cake flavor tries hard. The rainbow sprinkles are cheerful, and the vanilla base has an almost frosting-like sweetness. But the erythritol cooling effect is most noticeable here — the sweetness profile is just slightly off in a way that birthday cake flavor tends to expose. Good, not great.

Rating: 6.5/10

Lemon — Surprisingly Excellent

We didn't expect to like this one as much as we did. The lemon flavor is natural-tasting and properly tart, the almond flour base pairs beautifully with citrus, and the whole cookie has a brightness that makes it the most refreshing option in the lineup. Highly recommended if you enjoy citrus desserts.

Rating: 8.5/10

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip — Solid

The peanut butter flavor is mild but present, and the combination with chocolate chips is pleasant. It's not as peanut-buttery as you might hope — a stronger peanut flavor would elevate this considerably — but it's a good, satisfying option.

Overall Verdict

The Best Low-Carb Cookie on the Market

HighKey cookies are genuinely the best-tasting keto/low-carb cookie we've tried. They won't fool you into thinking they're a classic chocolate chip cookie, but they stand on their own as a quality snack. The Double Chocolate Chip and Lemon varieties are standouts. If you're eating low-carb, these belong in your pantry.
